Hollywood couple of the moment Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck are celebrating, after the actress gave birth to a baby girl on 1st December.

Press reports were confirmed that the star had safely delivered a daughter, as representatives for the couple issued a joint statement confirming that "mother, father and baby are doing great."

A source close to Jennifer told the press that the baby has been named Violet Ann Affleck. Both Violet and Ann are family names.

This is first baby for both Garner and Affleck, after they married in a private ceremony in the Caribbean in June. Ben Affleck was famously linked to Jennifer Lopez before he met Garner.

It is the first marriage for Affleck and the second for Garner, who divorced actor Scott Foley two and a half years after they wed.

The couple tied the knot at the Parrot Cay resort in the Caribbean islands of Turks and Caicos.

TV series Alias, in which Garner plays an undercover CIA agent, will finish in May after being beaten in the ratings by its timeslot competition.

Affleck will play actor George Reeves, best known for playing Superman on TV, in the upcoming movie Truth, Justice, and the American Way.

The couple first appeared together in 2001 film Pearl Harbor.
